New England Waterfall Photography of Garwin Falls

New England fall foliage is famous throughout the world and visitors flock to Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut to experience it first hand. Waterfalls make for beautiful photography subjects year-round but particular in the popular fall season. That's the time of year when you find me visiting many of the Most Beautiful Waterfalls of New England. Garwin Falls is one of these New Hampshire waterfall gems. The falls are located in Wilton, NH. On my last visit I was blessed with beautiful light that lit the main waterfall in wonderful tones and hues. As so often in photography, the magic did not last long and I was lucky to have made my way to the spot I had in mind. I was pursuing long exposure photography images with a 6 stop ND filter from Lee Filters when the sun all of a sudden broke through and provided pristine light on the waterfall. I quickly removed the ND filter while praying that the light please last a bit longer. I then installed a B+W polarizing filter, positioned the filter to eliminate unwanted glare and boosting colors and started capturing this magical moment with my camera.

A small aperture at f/22 provided Depth of Field and a 1/5 of a a second shutter speed at ISO100. During post processing I adjusted lighting, contrast, color saturation before sharpening the final New England waterfall photo of Garwin Falls.

This second shot was taking on my way back from above location and shows the waterfall from a different angle with its surrounding environment.

Newest Juergen Roth Galleries Photography Wall Art Mural Installation

This image shows my latest photography wall art mural installation featuring the Burns Bridge in Worcester, Massachusetts at twilight. This bridge with its unique architecture is beautiful illuminated by lights at night. I took 50 individual photos that were stitched in post processing to a single gigantic gigapixel file. The final large photo print was 10 by 14 feet.

Photo Wall Art Murals are digital photo images created from tens or hundreds of photos that are stitched in post processing resulting into a single high-resolution photo image that contains fascinating detail within one brilliant photography wall mural. The final interior design wall art decoration product is comprised of millions of pixels resulting in a high-resolution image file that can be printed super large with amazing image quality. The final high-resolution file ensures that the large wall art prints are crisp and vivid.

Gigapixel Photography images are good for large crowd events and ideal for large and very detailed and landscape, seascape, architecture, and skyline photography wall art prints and interior design projects at airports, hotels, hospitals, healthcare centers lobbies or any other large wall space that requires a unique transformation into art.

Massachusetts Sunrise Photography at Scituate Lighthouse

https://juergenroth.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Scenic-New-England/G00004ZHSvhgR8T4/I0000PbosYdJgsCo

Late last month I visited Scituate Light on Cedar Point in Scituate, Massachusetts. The New England  travels awarded beautiful sunrise light and cloud cover. I approximately arrived 30 minutes before sunrise and immediately made my way up onto the seawall. The first thing that caught my eye as another photographer. After a brief hello I noticed a few lobster cage washed upon the seawall and pebble beach below the lighthouse. I knew that some of those traps would find their way into my photography for a more pleasing composition and as an effective foreground element. It was very exciting that the light of the lighthouse was still shining strong after I set up and started photographing. Unfortunately it didn’t last too long and after two frames the magic of a New England lighthouse beam was over. Nonetheless, two frames were enough to capture this lighthouse image of Old Scituate Light with the seawall and lobster cage in the foreground and a beautiful wee hour sky that provided a dramatic backdrop.

Aperture for this image was f/11 resulting in a 15 seconds exposure time at ISO100. During post processing I adjusted brightness, lighting, saturation and contrast before removing dust spots and sharpening the final image of Scituate Lighthouse.

New England Landmark Photography of Motif Number 1

Cape Ann is one of my many favorites New England locations to photograph. I love the picturesque setting of Rockport Harbor and its iconic New England landmark Motif #1.

This famous red fishing shack is beautifully situated in the harbor at the end of Bradley Wharf. Motif Number 1 or Motif Number One is a symbol of New England maritime life and a beloved inspiration to many painters. Its been featured in many paintings making it one of the most painted buildings in America.

It must also be up there as one of the most photographed buildings in the United States of America. Usually when I stop by there are many photographers around but this morning I think I shared the location only with local Rockporters and fishermen.

The shots featured here were taking with a Canon 16-35mm lens or Canon 24-70mm lens on my Mark IV. A Gitzo tripod provided stability for the long exposure images.

New England Photography of Fall Foliage at the Bissell Covered Bridge and Mill Brook Waterfall

New-England-Photography-of-Fall-Foliage-at-the-Bissell-Covered-Bridge-and-Mill-Brook-Waterfall
Fall Foliage at the Bissell Covered Bridge and Mill Brook Waterfall
On one of this years New England fall foliage photo tours to Vermont I made a pit stop at Mill Brook Fall in Charlemont, Massachusetts. This New England waterfall is located below the Bissell Covered Bridge and Mill Brook runs off into a small picturesque gorge downstream of the waterfall. Climbing down to Mill Brook awards the best perspective but it’s a slippery and difficult descend. Watch your steps and hold on to trees and roots to not to trip and fall. Getting back up is even a greater challenge and bares the same difficulty and risks.

Ones at the bottom of the Bissell Bridge and waterfall though there are multiple viewpoints and compositions to be explored. Use your wide-angle lens to capture the entire scenery with Mill Brook in the scenery or a mid-range lens to capture a more intimate landscape photography image. In this picture I zoomed in with my Canon lens to capture a more dominant image of this New England waterfall and eliminated the rather boring overcast skies. On the other hand the overcast sky created a giant softbox that evenly balanced the light beautifully throughout the picture. A Lee polarizing filter slightly extended exposure times into multiple seconds allowing me to capture a sense of motion and Silky Water Effects. More importantly, the polarizer eliminated glare on the rocks and boosted color saturation of the autumn leaves.

Focal length was 30 mm with an aperture was set to f/22 resulting into a slow shutter speed of 1 second at ISO100. In post processing I adjusted lighting, contrast, color saturation before removing image imperfections and sharpening the final image of Bissell Covered Bridge

Washington DC Full Moon Rise and Cherry Blossoms

Full-Moon-Rise-Washington-DC-Mall-Capitol-Memorial
Full Moon Rise Washington DC
Our recent travels brought us to Washington DC where we visited my niece who is studying at Georgetown University. The visit coincided with a full moon and early on I was making plans to capture the astronomical phenomena. While researching I determined the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool a suitable photo location. Research indicated that the moon would rise to the right of The United States Capitol and Washington Monument.

Equipped with a beanbag, Canon Mark IV, 100-400mm telephoto lens with a 1.4x extender I embraced the challenge of yet another moon rise photography adventure. To my surprise, I was not on my own. There were hundreds of people and plenty of other photographers that had the same thought. I aborted my initial spot as The United States Capitol and Washington Monument were overlapping and it felt very clustered. While moving towards the monuments I find a composition that separated the two landmarks and provided room for them to breath. The next challenge was to be patient and minimize people in the foreground to the left of photograph. Luckily there was a big gap of folks walking the National Mall and I was able to blur some out during the long exposure. Next day I continued the fun by photographing  early cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Florida Photography of Coral Cove Park Sunset in Tequesta

On my last travel photography tour to Florida I had a chance to stop at Coral Cove Park in Tequesta, FL. This natural gem is located on Jupiter Island and not far from the historic Jupiter Lighthouse. The beach is also one of the most northern ones in Palm Beach County and a definitely must see of The Palm Beaches.

I originally planned to shoot here at sunrise but then the schedule only allowed to stop here at sunset. Boy was it worth it. The reefs by itself provide plenty of Photography Inspiration and make for a great foreground element in a composition. The evening I stopped by turned into a real burner and light and color was phenomenal.

I worked the scenery with my Canon Mark IV, a 16-35 mm wide-angle lens and a Gitzo tripod. During post processing I combined three exposures, adjusted brightness, contrast, vibrancy and color saturation before removing dust spots and sharpening the final Florida Images.

Battleship Cove in Fall River Massachusetts

New England photograophy of Battleship Cove in Fall River Massachusetts
Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts - Juergen Roth

Last week my travel New England Photography lead me to Fall River, MA. Battleship Cove was on my photo bucket list for quite some time and I am glad I finally was able to get down there for sunrise. Sunset is also a good time photographing these World War II naval vessels below the Braga Bridge. Upon arrival I explored my options while looking for a decent foreground element that I could incorporate into my composition. Not long into my quest I came across these mooring poles perfectly lined up beautifully. Equipped with a Gitzo tripod, a Canon Mark IV and 28-70mm zoom lens I got to work in the freezing morning hours. I like working with this lens as it provides a lot of freedom when composing a shot. Set at 50mm, I selected an f/14 aperture  with an ISO100 setting. The resulting long-exposure time was 25 section which provided a smooth waterscape while boats, bridge and the wooden poles remained in sharp focus.

During post-processing I adjusted brightness, contrast, vibrancy and color saturation before removing dust spots and sharpening the final image of Battleship Cove.

Maine Acadia National Park Photography Adventures

Bass Harbor Light Maine Acadia National Park lighthouses

Maine Acadia National Park is one happy place for me. I love heading to Mount Desert Island and spending a week getting lost in nature and photography. The sea views throughout this national park are spectacular. Acadia is also home to one of the most beautiful lighthouses setting in New England: Bass Harbor Light. This lighthouse towers atop granite cliffs and the swirling Atlantic Ocean. The Park Loop Road provides easy access to some of the classic photo locations in the park: Sand Beach, Monument Cove, Thunderhole and Otter Cliff to name a few. On the quieter side of Acadia National Park you find natural jewels like Wonderland and Seawall. Thuya Garden is incredible beautiful and provides a spectacular view of Northeast Harbor.

If you go and have any questions, don't hesitate dropping me a note. I am happy to help!

Seascape Photography Hotsport Ocean Reef Park in Riviera Beach Florida

Singer Island Ocean Reef Park Sunrise photos

Ocean Reef Park in Riviera Beach Florida is a true hidden gem. I loved walking onto the beach where tons of beach shells are dominant. To the left is a bit of a reef that is more exposed at low tide and makes for an interesting and eye-popping foreground feature. I stopped at this hotspot for sunrise and the light and cloudscape cooperated beautifully. Sunset may provide great opportunities as well.
