Boston Harbor Skyline and Night Photography

https://juergenroth.photoshelter.com/gallery/Boston/G00003cWcZlgWzHI/

The skyline and architecture of Boston has changed dramatically over the last decade. New skyscrapers and building go up everywhere. The Seaport District and East Boston are booming providing new office and apartment space for The Hub. I love visiting East Boston and enjoying the view of the Boston Waterfront skyline at twilight. Sunset and sunrise provide pristine photography condition too. There is a brief moment at twilight when the city lights and sky are in harmony and at their best. It's this favorite time of day when I release the shutter. In this Boston Photography image I opted for a tighter more intimate composition. The Custom House of Boston or Marriott Hotel dominates the view while the skyline reflection and the pier provided a great foreground, leading the viewer towards the impressive Boston Harbor skyline.

A Canon Mark IV camera with a 24-70mm wide-angle zoom lens was set at 59mm with an aperture of f/8 allowing for an exposure time of 10 second at ISO200. During routine post processing I adjusted noise levels, contrast, brightness, and saturation before removing image imperfections and sharpening the final photograph of Boston Waterfront Skyline.

Sunrise Photography at Boston Charlestown Monument Avenue

Monument Avenue Charlestown Massachusetts Boston

Monument Avenue is a beautiful street lined with antique lanterns and 19 century brickwork houses located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. This Boston neighborhood gem is hip, charming and has one of my favorite View of Boston Massachusetts. At night the lanterns exhibit a beautiful glow in warm hues, providing guiding lights and leading lines up Breed's Hill to the end of the Freedom Trail, the historic Bunker Hill Monument.

For this particular images I arrived well before sunrise. After several attempts at the bottom of Breed's Hill I worked my way up towards the iconic Boston obelisk. Almost half way up, I found my composition for this landmark photograph. I liked the more intimate view of the monument that allowed to include the stunning 19 century brickwork architecture lining Monument Avenue.

A Canon Mark IV camera with a 24-70mm wide-angle zoom lens was set at 46mm with an aperture of f/11 allowing for an exposure time of 3.2 second at ISO200. During routine post processing I combined three exposure to capture the entire light spectrum, adjusted noise levels, contrast, brightness, saturation before removing image imperfections and sharpening the final photograph of Monument Avenue in Boston Charlestown, MA.

Florida Bird and Sunrise Photography at Wakodahatchee Wetlands

https://juergenroth.photoshelter.com/gallery/Florida/G00000CoTKYfEh_A/

Wakodahatchee Wetlands is of the best birding locations in Florida. The abundance of birds amazes me every time I visit this nature photography paradise. At one of my latest travels to this birding hotspot I decided to capture a sunrise here. I picked a spot not far from the entrance along the wooden boardwalk. Upon arrival I was the only bird photographer on location although as closer sunrise approached, as more birding enthusiasts and nature photographers showed up. Tripod, camera and wide angle lens in place I patiently waited for the sunrise magic to unfold. The island and trees in front of me were filled with birds and made for a great foreground element. Clouds and sky burne up beautifully in the wee hours. I decided to incorporate the pavilion to show more of the birds environment and what a great spot Wakodahatchee is for birding and bird photography. The Great Blue Heron played along and struck an iconic and  recognizable pose. The other birds kept relatively quiet allowing for a decent exposure in low light.

Using a Canon Mark IV camera with a 16-35mm wide-angle lens set at 16mm, an aperture of f/11 allowed for an exposure time of 1/50 second at ISO100. During routine post processing I combined three exposure to capture the entire light, adjusted noise levels, contrast, brightness, saturation before removing image imperfections and sharpening the final photograph of Sunrise at Wakodahatchee Wetlands.

Beautiful Florida Sunrise Photography at Delray Beach

Delray Beach is famous for its nice beach and equally for its hopping restaurant scene along Atlantic Avenue. I love visiting for a beautiful sunrise and to enjoy tranquility at dawn. Usually I share the beach with a few like-minded people whom mostly watch the sun cross the horizon. I do the same while looking for compositions and snapping a photo here and there.

This morning, partly cloudy skies were in the weather forecast for South Florida.  The beach grass made for a great foreground element while the rising sun beautifully painted the scenery in warm golden hues. The sun burst was created by selecting a small aperture such as f/22 (large f-stop number).

Using a Canon Mark IV camera with a 16-35mm wide-angle lens set at 16mm, an aperture of f/22 allowed for an exposure time of 1/4 second at ISO100. During routine post processing I combined three exposure to capture the entire light spectrum, adjusted noise levels, contrast, brightness, saturation before removing image imperfections and sharpening the final photograph of Delray Beach Sunrise Bliss.
