72 Hours of New York City Photography

On my last photo trip to the Big Apple I had a cruel photography schedule. I planned out some photo spots, had to attend three sport events and improvise in the mornings to re-adjust my photography timelines:

Friday:
3:00 PM: Arrival in New York City and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Looking for parking. Find parking in a local garage - extremely convenient but pricy!
3:30 PM: On location at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 1 for skyline photography ~ so worth it, amazing light!

5:30 PM: Falafel for dinner in Brooklyn ~ delicious.
7:00 PM: Check in to hotel in Queens ~ finally get some rest.

Saturday:
5:00 AM: Catching the sunrise and morning light in Brooklyn Bridge Park under the Brooklyn Bridge for some NYC skyline panorama photography ~ tired but happy I fell out of bed.

8:00 AM: Breakfast in a diner on the Upper Eastside in Manhattan.
10:00 AM: Back at the hotel creating a massive panorama of New York skyline with the Queensboro Bridge as an interesting anchor that leads the viewer into the city ~ scared to stitch this one as it may crash my computer.

3:00 PM: Exploring Roosevelt Island which provided interesting skyline photography opportunities of the Headquarters of the United Nations and Chrysler Building ~ beautiful lighting for these historic landmarks.

5:00 PM: Driving to Long Island Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for my first sport event ~luckily did not get lost.
7:00 PM: Photographing the NHL game between the New York Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum ~ awesome crowd and great game!

9:30 PM Diner at the hotel.

Sunday:
5:00 AM: Capturing the Gantry Cranes with NY Freedom Tower and other local landmarks at sunrise. Disappointing lighting turns interesting and saved this morning shoot ~ two days in a row I make it out of bed in the wee hours ~ worth the wake up call!

8:00 AM: Couple croissants and a high octane coffee in Queens ~ needed that one for the rest of the day.
10:30: Hitting the road to Hoboken Terminal. Find parking. Jump on the train to the Meadowlands ~ great way to experience a NFL game!
1:00PM: Photographing the NFL game between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins at Metlife Stadium in the Meadowlands ~ magnificent stadium!

3:00 PM: Back on the train to Hoboken.
3:30 PM: Capturing the New York skyline from Frank Sinatra Drive ~ reminded me a bit of Memorial Drive in Boston where one has beautiful views of the city.

5:30 PM: Heading over to Manhattan to catch the New York Knickerbockers at Madison Square Garden.
6:00 PM: Can't believe I find street parking two blocks from Madison Square Garden- sweet!
7:00 PM: Tip off - getting to work capturing the NBA game between the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors in pictures ~ Madison Square Garden is such a class act!
