Behind the Photography Image of Sunset at Echo Lake in Maine Acadia National Park

Sunset at Echo Lake in Maine Acadia National Park
Echo Lake in Maine Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island- south of Somesville and just a short drive north of Southwest Harbor. The fresh water lake is shadowed by the soaring Beech Cliffs that rise vertically from the banks of the lake. Visiting the lake at sunset makes for a peaceful and calm outdoor experience. The views of the lake with the mountains is straight out of a magazine. I stopped here a couple of times but never captured the photography image I envisioned. On my last trip to Acadia National Park I was on my way to a different location but was running late and about to miss the magic light. I spontaneously decided to stop at this nature delight and take my chances. I knew about the rocks and figured it should make for great composition when effectively used as dominant foreground features that lead the viewer into the picture.

Upon arrival I found my spot and set up tripod and camera. A wide angle lens provided the extensive view of the lake with surrounding mountains. In order to overcome the high contrast between dark foreground and bright sky I applied a Graduated Neutral Density Filter in the field. In addition a Neutral Density Filter lengthened the overall exposure to multiple seconds. Aperture setting was f/8, providing a long exposure value of 30 seconds at ISO400.

Using photoshop I combine 3 photos with different exposure times into a final HDR Photography image. During post processing I removed image imperfections, adjusted lighting, color saturation and contrast before sharpening the final image of Echo Lake.

How to Create Spectacular Maine Acadia National Park Seascape Photography Images: Story Behind A New Day

Maine Acadia National Park at Sunrise

Maine has some of the most scenic seascape areas in New England. In particular Mount Desert Island including Acadia National Park is famous for its iconic coastal shorelines. During my last visit my location scouting resulted in some new and exciting photo locations in this national park. It amazes me that there is still so much to discover here although I come here so frequently to enjoy the solitude and Mother Earth at its best. This extended vista of Coastal Maine I had not seen before and figured sunrise would be very attractive here. I was so pumped about this location that I adventured out the very next day before dawn. Nature did not let me down and the outdoor experience was amazing and photo opportunities were endless. The sunrise was truly inspiring and spectacular. Clouds caught fire with the first light and the sun painted the rocky coastline in beautiful warm hues.

In this particular Seascape Photography image I used an evergreen and the cliffs immediately in front of me to lead the viewer into the composition. The beautiful cliffs and colorful sky spectacle added the explanation point.

Aperture in this coastal image was set to f/22 providing a long exposure time of 8 seconds at ISO100. During post processing I combined 3 different pictures in one HDR photography image, removed dust spots and made the necessary adjustments to re-create my outdoor experience this morning in the final Maine Acadia National Park Seascape Photography image.

Behind the Image of Blossoming Rhododendron

http://juergenroth.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Flowers/G0000DCr8YHs9TZ4/I0000VY0Idj7.JIA
Rhododendron are in full bloom across New England and the powerful colors make for great close up Photography of Flowers. This one I discovered in my own garden. Most blossoms were blooming while the center one was still closed and about to open. A time laps would have been cool I suppose but instead I settled on a macro photography composition that highlights forms, shapes and colors of this floral. A vertical picture format allowed to include parts of a second blossom that falls out of focus making up a more attractive background. The aperture was set to f/11 providing an exposure time of 1/8 of a second at ISO200. a polarizing filter and a slight underexposure boosted color saturation and eliminated unwanted glare on the blossoms.

During post processing I removed minor dust spots and imperfection before making minimal adjustment to brightness, color saturation, contrast and sharpening the final photography image of Blossoming Flowers.

To my surprise  I forgot the Rhododendron's name and inquired on Facebook for identification. Ones the name came up I remembered immediately and felt like I should have known that one, shouldn't I?

Flower Photography of Bleeding Hearts on a Line

http://juergenroth.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Flowers/G0000DCr8YHs9TZ4/I0000BXRfdASVBmQ
Spring is one of my favorite time of the years. It's so inspiring when flora comes alive. In recent weeks our garden is blooming in plenty of colors.

Last week Bleeding Hearts were in bloom and I was able to photograph a few. This one was taken in horizontal format as I wanted to include the entire line of the Bleeding Heart flowers. The aperture was set to f/4.5 providing a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second at ISO200. I picked a higher ISO setting in order to fasten exposure time. Wind was a bit of a problem and the flowers were blowing back and forth. In the end patient and persistence paid of.

During post processing I removed minor dust spots and imperfection before making minimal adjustment to brightness, color saturation, contrast and sharpening the final photography image of Bleeding Hearts on a Line.

Good light and happy photo making,
